“Jane will give Bawumia a run for his money” – Dr Kobby Mensah

A Political Marketing Strategist, Dr. Kobby Mensah has said “Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyeman will give Dr. Bawumia a run for his money”.

In a zoom interview on JoyNews’ PM Express monitored by Ghanasonline.com, the Senior lecturer of the University of Ghana Business School said the English Professor’s maiden speech was well delivered and is a sign of better things from her for the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Flagbearer of the NDC, John Dramani Mahama officially unveiled his running mate, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang today, July 27, 2020 at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA).

Her speech followed a short ceremony for her unveiling and a speech by the flagbearer, John Mahama.

Commenting on her speech, Dr Kobby Mensah said even though Jane is typically not a politician, “her experience, how she peaks her tone and pace when talking” shows she’s not going to be slow with Bawumia.

“There’s no apprenticeship for the presidency, she’s been an English professor, attended conferences, taken big decisions and she’ll give Bawumia a run for his money”, he reiterated.

Speech content

Speaking on the content of her speech, Dr. Mensah said “I don’t think she came across as assessing a policy and if any policy statement should come, it should be from the person mounting the ticket and not the running mate.”

He further expressed how erroneous it would have been for her to deliver the policy address instead of John Mahama himself, who’ll be appearing on the ballot.

“If she had done the policy announcement it would have been a mistake”, he emphasized.

On the banner with John behind Jane, Dr. Mensah said Jane leading on the flyer is not a bad campaign image.

“She leading is not a bad image”, he indicated.

Photos of men and women always have the females leading. Most arrangements are like that and it’s so with our culture.
