IMANI Centre for Policy and Education’s Franklin Cudjoe has said fallouts from the KelniGVG contract breeds potential candidates for prosecution.
The Founder and president of the policy think tank says the account presented by the sector Ministry in Parliament is not convincing enough.
In a Facebook post sighted by Ghanasonline.com, Mr. Cudjoe questioned whether indeed there have been gains from the $180 million contract.
“I have more good news about the government’s achievements from the government for you…but first who said savings have been made on the Common Monitoring Platform? My Queen Asaase Yaa II”, the post read.
It also asks if Ghanaians “remember SUBAH and Afriwave? Their contracts were worth nearly $2m a month and they did no proper work”, and IMANI opposed them under the National Democratic Congress.
However, the current Minister, described in the post as “My Queen” has replaced those contracts with “another nothing, in fact a more dubious contract for $1.5m a month for ten years.”
Mr. Cudjoe further asserts the ludicrousness of the Minister striking the difference over the entire period the contract has endured, saying that is the difference she has saved the state.

He furthered that, the subscriber growth and attendance increase the Minister presented were equally erroneous.
“Additionally, she misreads genuine telecom subscriber growth and attendant increase in revenue over the period her KGVG baby has ‘worked’ to mean savings for the state. It is sad!!”, the post indicated.
Telecom Chamber refutes claims
His optimism, as stated in the post, however, stems from the challenge thrown by the Telecoms Chamber for her to verify her claims.
But, the Minister’s refusal, since November 2019, could warrant prosecution of people involved in the KelniGVG deal, according the IMANI president.
“Glad the telecoms chamber has challenged my Queen to verify her claims. She has refused since November 2019. These are all potential candidates for prosecution.
These amongst other things according to Mr. Cudjoe, “sadly erode the good things our government has done. Nana has been terribly weak on reigning in some of these issues.”
