Akufo-Addo confers Jospong “Dynamic Entrepreneur” as he cuts sod for U/E Waste Treatment Plant

President Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has described as “Dynamic Entrepreneur”, the Executive Chairman of the Jospong Group of Companies (JGC), Joseph Siaw Agyepong.

The president says the man who doubles as Chief Executive Officer of Zoomlion Ghana Limited (ZGL) possesses what government seeks from the private sector to foster development.

The President, was speaking at the sod cutting ceremony for the construction of a Solid Waste Treatment Facility at Sherigu, a community of Bolgatanga in the Upper East region.

“The exercise being taken by this formidable woman, Minister for Water and Sanitation, Cecilia Abena Dapaa and the Dynamic Entrepreneur, Siaw Agyepong, the boss of the Jospong Group of Companies are two exceptional Ghanaians that we have to continue to encourage them”, he said.

This brings to 8 in total, the number of sods cut for the construction of similar parastatals across the country, after Zoomlion and government’s collaboration which has seen the completion of a $94 million similar facility in Kumasi, the Ashanti regional capital.

President Akufo-Addo reemphasized the imperativeness of the benefits Ghana is reaping from government’s partnership with the Jospong Group of Companies.

“Today we’ve come to Sherigu to cut the sod for the commencement of a very important facility for the Upper East region. This is the eighth such facility, we have had to cut a sod for this construction. The construction of these facilities, is evidence of the great collaboration between the Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources and the Jospong Group of Companies”, he emphasized.

The president further indicated his elation to the directive he gave about the project being replicated in “all the 16 regions of the country, [that] are being meticulously and scrupulously carried out by Jospong Group of Companies and the Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources.”

The president also implored all to applaud the collaborative effort undertaken by “both groups of people for this important initiative they’ve taken to safeguard the health of our country and the sanctity of our environment. A clean environment is one of the most important assets of any nation. So all of us should help these two groups of people to make sure that we have a clean environment in Ghana.”

Supporting the private sector

Akufo-Addo additionally averred how his outfit is “particularly keen on assisting any private sector entity that is interested in partnering government to enhance the progress and prosperity of our nation”, which the JGC is not an exception.

“I shall continue to be in admiration and supportive of the efforts being made by the Jospong Group of Companies to partner government to improve our environment and deal with the sanitation of our nation”, he stated.

Particularly, the president’s vision of making Ghana rank highest on the continent’s environmental index is what has propelled him to champion the course of establishing solid waste treatment plants across the country.

“We still should make it a target that Ghana in the years ahead will emerge as the cleanest nation on the African continent and in the world”, he relayed.

Executive Chairman of JGC, Joseph Siaw Agyepong in his address thanked the President for his support and promised to deliver the project in a space of four months.
