Odododiodio has set itself apart as one of the flashpoints for the December elections as listed on the Ghana Police Service’s recent report.
The report listed 50 flashpoints in the constituency where violence can errupt on the day of the polls.
A Sunday morning campaign walk by members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) turned chaos after some New Patriotic Party (NPP) supporters clashed with them at the Odododiodio constituency.
Members of the two parties were pelting stones and raining insults at each other, in a video widely circulated on social media platforms.
A popular junction known as ‘One Way’, located on the ‘Atta Mills Highway’ was where the brawl became intense.
It has not been clear what triggered the commotion between supporters of incumbent MP, Nii Lante Vanderpuye and NPP’s Nii Lante Bannerman.
Both parties have written their statements at the police station with 15 people getting injured.
It has a history of political violence over the years.
In September 2016, a lady supporter of the NDC was stabbed at Bukom Square when a confusion spiked during a political debate.
Supporters had gathered to cheer their candidates on at a parliamentary debate organised by an Accra-based 3FM when tempers flared.
