A swam of bees have stung two young girls to death at Kwame Whettey in the Awutu Senya West District of the Central Region.

The girls — Esi Anobia, aged 3 and Akua Hannah, 13, were searching for firewood with their mother in the bush.

They were attacked together with their mother and their younger sibling, who is still breastfeeding, aside 13 other residents who went to their rescue.

Meanwhile, three people are in critical condition and receiving treatment at the Winneba Trauma Specialist Hospital, with 10 others sustaining injuries.

“My two kids have died. Now I can’t go anywhere. The bees attacked me too and I can’t even buy drugs. I haven’t been to the hospital. I have no husband. My mother is late. I gather firewood to sell to fend for myself and family,” teary mother of the deceased girls told Seth Ankomah Adjei.

Also, Dora Quaye’s brother, Kwesi Essandoh said they need philanthropists to help them secure some medication for his sister.

Mr. Essandoh says the cloth they have tied the little money they have has been taken over by the bees.

Information reaching Ghanas Online indicate this is not the first time bees have killed someone in Madam Quaye’s family.

According to sources, one man has been killed by bees in the family some years ago.

The development has left many wondering if the family has been cursed.
