Municipal Chief Executive of the Ketu South Municipality, Elliot Edem Agbenorwu, has advised for continual observation of the Covid-19 preventive protocols.
He says “we should adopt a door to door campaign instead of massing up people” to rid of Covid-19 from the system.
Mr. Agbenorwu was speaking with the media on the sidelines of the third phase of markets disinfection in the Volta region.
He explained the mass up of people, including but not limited to campaign activities could further escalate the already increasing cases, hence, the need to suspend certain activities.
“We were supposed to go on a health walk tomorrow but due to the surge in the positive cases, we have suspended it.
The National Democratic Congress want to hold a similar exercise tomorrow and I’ve reached out to them to offer an advise for them to suspend it in order not to bring many people together to continue spreading the virus,” he told the media.

President Akufo-Addo’s 19th state address on the Covid-19 pandemic indicated a rise in the positive cases in the country which necessitated the third phase of the disinfection to take place.
Volta Region begun their exercise today, Friday, October 13, taking place in all the 18 MMDAs in the region, except the Ho Municipality.
The Volta Regional disinfection is a collaboration between Dansworld International Service Limited and the Sanitation Ministry, supported by Zoomlion Ghana Limited.

All lorry terminus in the above mentioned markets were disinfected, including the Metro Mass, VIP Cargo station and Mini Container, as well as 64 public and private toilets.
Meanwhile, traders in the Municipality have been told to comply with the exercise.
Municipal Environmental Health Officer (MEHO), Cephas Korsu, who gave the advise said “we are safeguarding our lives but not to destroy your business.”
He added it is for the safety of the residents that the exercise is being undertaken and hence the need for their full corporation.
Mr. Korsu further pleaded with the residents to continue to adhere to the safety protocols despite the disinfection.
“I want to tell everybody to continue washing their hands, use sanitisers, ensure social distancing and wear their face masks because the virus is still there,” he advised.
