“Tema East would have been worse off than Odododiodio” – Titus-Glover

Member of Parliament (MP) for Tema East constituency, Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus-Glover, has said but for his pledge to approach the December polls with peace, the constituency would have been worse off than Odododiodio.

The MP has been accused by opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) for causing the arrest of their Parliamentary Candidate (PC), Isaac Ashai Odamten.

This led to the destruction of properties by members of the NDC at the office of the New Patriotic Party in the constituency.

In a keenly monitored interview by Ghanas Online on Angel FM, the MP for the constituency, who is also the NPP PC, Daniel Titus-Glover, said he knows nothing about Mr. Odamten’s arrest and such allegations are baseless.

“I have not caused the arrest of Ashai Odamten. He has issues with [the Economic and Organised Crime Office] EOCO about malfeasance when he was the MCE. He was sent to court and needed sureties to get bailed which he couldn’t provide. That resulted to him being detained in police custody,” he told Ohemaa Sakyiwaa Akrofi.

Mr. Titus-Glover lamented “the NDC guys wouldn’t go to school to read and understand the English but would believe the lies and resort to mayhem. Unfortunately, Odamten too wouldn’t tell them the truth. How can I cause the arrest of someone? Had it not been that I’ve sworn to approach this election with peace, what would have happened would be deadlier than [what happened at] Odododiodio.”

Even though his supporters are “still charged” to respond what the NDC did in equal measure, Mr. Titus-Glover said he has asked them to exercise patience.

Also, the MP indicated he has reported the issue to the police, no arrests have been made yet.

“We are not afraid of the NDC. People are still charged. I’ve told our supporters to be patient. They destroyed our bill boards and vandalised the party office. We reported to the police but no arrest has been made,” he relayed.

A recent walk by the NDC at the Odododiodio constituency caused a clash between supporters of the NPP and NDC which resulted in pelting of stones and other objects.

Many of the supporters from both sides sustained various injuries with five suspects being arrested.

The two Parliamentary Candidates have since signed a peace pact and pledged their commitment to peace in the upcoming elections.
