The Ashaley Botwe District of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana has climaxed the Easter celebration with some police officers and inmates within their catchment area.
The church visited some cells in some police stations within the district, sharing with them the word of God and making merry, sharing the gospel of Christ’s death and His resurrection to them to mark the Emmaus Day.
Minister in charge of the Ashaley Botwe District, Rev. Samuel Nii Klu Nortey indicated Easter is a very important season for Christians and meeting the officers and inmates and sharing with them the word of God was awesome.
“We’ve shared fellowship with them and preach the gospel to them and we prayed for the inmates. We gave our Easter gifts to all of them with the idea that, Christ loves them, Christ died for us and indeed Christ is risen for us so they should believe that very soon they’ll also come out of their cells and serve with the faithfulness of God and live their normal lives”, Rev. Nortey said.
The Minister in charge of Jordan Congregation, Rev. Jonas Aburam Agyakwa said “the love of Christ which He exhibited by dying because of our sins and resurrecting for us is what we are replicating to the police and inmates to give them a renewed hope in Jesus Christ.”
He added that, Jesus’ message of how He was neglected whilst in prison, being left naked when he had no clothes and likening it to Christians inability to exhibit such gestures to their fellow brethren is part of the reasons they they were inspired to undertake the exercise.
Also in attendance were Rev. Michael Sowah Nartey ( MIC El-Shaddai), Rev. Chief Supt. John Opoku (MIC Praise), Rev. Akosua Boatemaa Otoo (MIC Unity), Rev. Theophilus Opoku (2nd Minister, Ebenezer), Samuel Tetteh Narh (Ashaley Botwe District Clerk), Esther Osei-Yeboah (Dist. Lay Rep to Presbytery), Victor Owusu (Dist. ESR Convener).
The places visited were the Lakeside Estate Community 4 Police Station, Lakeside Estate Com 8 Police Station and Nmai Dzorn Police Station.
The church presented cooked food, water and drinks to the stations they visited.
