Akufo-Addo must step down to ‘break the 8’ – Captain Smart tells NPP

President Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo has been asked to step down in his final year of his last term to make the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) ‘break the 8’ jinx mantra possible.

Angel FM’s Anɔpa Bɔfoɔ host, Captain Smart, who made the suggestion said that’s the surest way the NPP might have their eight year rule extention possible.

He says the contest between Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia and Alan Kyerematen would be stiffer than what ensued between Alan and President Akufo-Addo.

The probability of the contest bringing disparity to foil the vision of the party in 2024 is higher, making Akufo-Addo’s resignation an option.

This he said should be a wake up call for the NPP to agree and internally agree to select who to represent them for the 2024 polls.

“Nana Addo should resign in his final year, so that they swear Bawumia in, then he chooses Alan as his running mate, then they go for 2024. After one term, Bawumia should hand over for Alan to become the flagbearer,” he said on the Morning Show whilst being monitored by Ghanasonline.com.

Mr. Smart noted even though Alan is older than Bawumia in terms of age, Bawumia is ahead of him on the political scale because he has become Vice President.

However, he predicted “should there be a contest and Bawumia wins, he may likely choose Matthew Opoku Prempeh as his running mate, whilst Alan may likely choose John Peter Amewu” to join him for the 2024 contest.
