A Ghanaian young man from Mankessim in the Central Region has developed an amplifier and a lamp that can be controlled with a clap and any remote controller respectively.
Richard Arkromond, a 2003 Junior Secondary School (now Junior High School, JHS) graduate says his vision was to learn electronics after his Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) but could not get help because of his mother’s demise.
Through his own inquisition, he tried certain things until he realised he has made something of value that can benefit society.
“My mother died after JHS and I wanted to learn electronics so I was asking around if people could teach me but because there was no one to initiate me, I wasn’t minded.
“So through my own research, I just picked any spare part on the ground and fidget until I started buying things to fix them myself. So I made an amplifier and realised it was working and I said to myself that I’ll do something unique,” he narrated.
Exhibiting his invention on the youth forum on Smart TV Monday, June 14, 2021, the 34-year-old said his amplifier is composed of a drive portal that plays music with a tablet insertion that helps one to make phone calls with it.
The intriguing part of his ‘invention’ is that, a clap of the hands puts the device on and off, which he says was an inspiration he took from Apostle Kwadwo Safo, the founder of Kantanka Automobile.
“When I heard Kantaka has made inventions that worked with the clap of the hands, I said it was juju so I never believed and after researching into it, I realised it wasn’t juju but something I could also do. So I contacted a brother of mine at Teshie who was buying and transporting things to me from Accra and I was also able to do it,” he disclosed.
Aside from the amplifier, Mr. Arkromond has also devised a lamp that can be operated with any remote control.
He says he has programmed it in a way that any remote can operate it with any key without any difficulty.
He indicated same holder can be connected to a ceiling fan which would subsequently be operated with a remote control.
“The lamp holder I used for the light can be connected to a ceiling fan and be controlled with any remote controller. So after connecting the fan to the censor, you need to use the remote because your regulator cannot control it (fan) anymore,” he shared.
Mr. Arkromond pleaded the benevolence of Ghanaians and philanthropists to assist him expand his enterprise to train people and produce more for sale.
