Captain Smart has bemoaned those in authority for seeking only to maintain their positions without repositioning the masses that gave them power.
He notes people surrender their authority for others to represent them by virtue of unfavourable circumstances they find themselves, and hence expect that these leaders transform their lives afterwards.
However, many African leaders and Ghana as a matter of fact are only interested in maintaining their portfolios without fulfilling what is required of them.
His statement follows recent murder of Ibrahim Mohammed, a.k.a. Kaaka, which subsequently led to the shooting of several other people resulting in two more deaths at Ejura Sekyedumase in the Ashanti Region.
He averred “whatever position you have is an opportunity so make sure you make the people happy. In Africa, people are interested in maintaining their position without repositioning the people. Before they voted for you, they were in a position which was not favourable. (ie bad roads, bad hospitals, high unemployment etc) so as soon as you’re voted for, make sure you change the people’s position else they’ll deposition you.”
He added that, “another Ejura is on the way and if care is not taken, it would be worst.”
This impending danger he has likened to that of Kaaka involves one youth who made a video condemning the Member of Parliament for Offinso North, Augustine Collins Ntim, for denying a community in his constituency during his vetting as Deputy Minister for Local Government and Rural Development.
During the vetting, Mr. Suhuyini inquired from the MP if a dilapidated school in a town called Akrofoa falls in his constituency which the MP said no.
Meanwhile, the said community according a former MCE of Offinso South, Yussif , the school falls within the Offinso North District and constituency. Aside that, the MP mentioned some projects he has done in the community which the young man said were all false.
After the video went viral, the young man’s mother was threatened by some NPP members in the community to release him else they’ll manhandle her.
The guy, who is a teacher, has also indicated his District HR has called him saying he is wanted at the District police command and should report there Friday, June 2, 2021.
The story, which according to Captain Smart is similar to that of Kaaka considering a warning letter issued to him by the police before his murder, is what he is cautioning for a repetition not to occur.
Captain Smart was speaking on the Smart show on Smart TV Thursday, July 1, 2021.
