Ahafo Ano North Youth Parl. launched; members urged to take up positions

Member of Parliament for Ahafo Ano North constituency in the Ashanti Region, Suleman Adamu Sanid has bemoaned unwillingness of the youth to take up high offices in the country.

Speaking at the inauguration of the Ahafo Ano North Youth Parliament at Tepa, he mentioned that one of the surest ways of ensuring development is to have a good number of youth at the helm of affairs.

The law maker again advised the youth to take up leadership positions in spite of all the constraints that might come with it.

At the inauguration, the Ashanti Regional Director of the of the National Youth Authority, George Orwell Amponsah, advised members of the newly inaugurated Parliament against arrogating to themselves undeserving accolades and powers that can threaten the survival of this noble initiative.

He tasked the inaugurated parliament to come up with projects or programs that will seek to solving societal challenges confronting the Ahafo Ano North Municipal Assembly.

The Ahafo Ano North Youth Parliament is under an initiative of the National Youth Authority-Ghana to establish Youth Parliaments across the 254 MMDAs in the country.

This is aimed at introducing local governance to the youth to divert their attention from social vices and other activities that are detrimental to their advancement in life.

The long term goal is to establish the Ghana National Youth Parliament by 2025.
