Secessionists activities are fueled by politicians – Reg. Minister

Volta regional Minister, Dr. Archibald Letsa has said recent actions by group of secessionists in the Volta region are being fueled by politicians.

The Minister, speaking on Asaase radio Monday, September 28, 2020, keenly monitored by Ghanasonline indicated the Regional Security Council is aware that all three different groups have politicians behind them.

“We know their leaders, we know what they’re doing and all those behind it. I want to believe there is political reasons behind it.

But the minister implored all Ghanaians to unite against the act since it undermines “the sovereignty of the state.”

He further asked “those making political gains” about the ill development to stop.

Dr. Letsa also noted “the Homeland Study Group is different from the Western Togolanders but they all have the same agenda”, reiterating the revelation that, there are three different secessionist groups that have risen in the region recently.

The groups are seeking for the creation of a new country called Western Togoland.

The attack which appeared to have been well thought through and coordinated led to the stealing of some guns belonging to the Police and a police car which has since been abandoned in a Bush in the Volta Region.

Meanwhile, the police are assuring that they will do all in their power to bring the perpetrators to book.
