“Who’s in charge” Hannah Bissiw slams Bawumia

National Women’s Organiser of opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Dr. Hannah Louisa Bissiw has asked “who is in charge” in the Akufo-Addo led administration.

Her comments stem from President Akufo-Addo’s current isolation status and inability to lead cabinet with Dr. Bawumia missing in action.

At a call by the NDC Women Caucus in Parliament on the party’s running mate, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, Dr. Bissiw taunted the role of Bawumia as veep, by asking who’s steering affairs at the time the president is in isolation.

“Today we have two men there but who is in charge? The president is in isolation [and] we know you don’t attend Cabinet meetings anymore due to Coronavirus because many Cabinet ministers have been infected”

“Aside that we know some government institutions have been closed down, so is the abled male Vice President in charge? Who is ruling the country at this time”, she asked in an encounter with the media at the meeting.

Dr. Bissiw also alluded Ghana cannot point to a leader in these times since the Veep is not functioning at the President’s absence.

“There is currently no leader in this government as said by one of your own people that there is no leadership. Aside that whenever there was a disaster our president used to travel so he can tell us one single instance his Vice made any meaningful impact when he took over.” she stated.

The veterinary expect averred the only time Dr. Bawumia tried to make an impact was when he went to distribute expired food products to disaster victims in the Northern region.

Her assertions were in direct response to naysayers of Prof. Opoku-Agyemang’s competence.

Many, especially from the NPP have criticised the former Vice Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast from the moment she was named running mate for the biggest opposition party.

Some have chastised her saying her performance as Education Minister in erstwhile Mahama’s administration was abysmal, doubting her capabilities incase she becomes Veep.

Whilst some are canvassing support for her based on her competences, some feminists are clamoring support for her based on her gender.

But the NDC Women’s Organiser believes even though two males are occupying the highest office of the land, none is in charge at the moment.

She mocked the economic prowess of Dr. Bawumia, as a “chew and pour economist [which] those of us without economics background would even succeed with the simple arithmetic he does”.

“And for that reason, you’ve reshuffled him in your own government, and he’s not in charge of the Economic Management Team anymore”.

Dr. Bissiw also described as laughable, Dr. Bawumia’s claim of arresting the cedi, locking it and handing over the keys to the IGP.

The NDC’s simple message to government according to her is for them to be focused as they [NDC] are because “in a few months time, Ghanaians will kick you out of government.”
