Don’t compare yourself to John Mahama – Captain Smart tells Akufo-Addo

Television and radio presenter, Blessed Godsbrain Smart has said president Akufo-Addo’s daily comparison of himself to former president Mahama boggles the reasonable minds of Ghanaians.

He has asked him to stop comparing himself to John Dramani Mahama and concentrate on fixing the country –the reason for which Ghanaians voted for him.

Mr. Smart says events leading to the 2016 elections made Akufo-Addo describe John Mahama as incompetent and therefore sees no reason why a competent Nana Addo still compares himself with the ineptitude of the former Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces.

His statement comes on the back of comments made by president Akufo-Addo at the commissioning of the four-tier Pokuase Interchange in Accra.

At the event Friday, July 9, 2021, the president castigated former president Mahama for constructing one interchange (Circle Dubai) with $260 million whilst he (Akufo-Addo) has used $289 million to get the nation three interchanges, making him a better protector of the public purse.

But Captain Smart thinks a competent Akufo-Addo should not degrade his status by comparing himself with an incompetent Mahama –as he Akufo-Addo made Ghanaians understand –who was voted out of office for his non-performance.

“You claim to protect the public purse. You can’t compare yourself to Mahama because before you came, you made us understand he’s highly incompetent. So why do you compare yourself to him? Leave that man alone. Why should you compare your leadership with his? Don’t you get scared when you mention his name? We don’t need John Mahama that’s why we didn’t vote for him so stop mentioning his name and fix the country,” he said on the Smart Show Friday, July 9, 2021 on Smart TV.
