17 MPs kicking against Anti LGBTQ+ Bill passage – Captain Smart alleges

Broadcast Journalist, Blessed Godsbrain Smart, a.k.a Captain Smart has given a stern warning to some 17 Members of Parliament (MPs) who are allegedly instigating opposition to the passage of the Anti LGBTQ+ Bill.

He says the MPs held a meeting Sunday, July 25, 2021 in a hotel in Accra, discussing how to rise against the passage of the Bill.

Speaking on the Onua Maakye show Monday, July 26, 2021, Captain Smart said a mammoth campaign would be rallied against them to lose their seats if they rise against the bill as planned.

The 17 Parliamentarians he said, comprises 14 males and 3 females, and has assured how they would be strictly observed during deliberations on the bill in Parliament.

“…Those of you 17 MPs who are planning against the passage of the Anti LGBTQ+ bill, we have seen you. Yesterday you went to meet and discussed how you’ll rise against the bill. The name of the hotel starts with ‘M’. It has ‘Z’ inside and ends with ‘A’,” he said whilst Ghanasonline.com monitored.

“We are interested in our ladies and they are the ones we want. We won’t have sex with fellow men for women to have sex with their fellow women. We won’t condone such nonsense in this country. In due time, we’ll mention your names,” he fumed.

The official name for the draft legislation by Ghana’s parliament to criminalise LGBTQI+ practice and advocacy in the country is ‘The Promotion of Proper Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values Bill 2021.’

The 36-page document is to ensure proper human sexual rights and Ghanaian family values; proscribe LGBTQ+ and related activities; proscribe propaganda of, advocacy for or promotion of LGBTTQQIAAP+ and related activities; provide for the protection of and support for children, persons who are victims or accused of LGBTTQQIAAP+ and related activities.”
