Private schools council begs for nationwide donations
The Ghana National Council of Private Schools (GNACOPS) is appealing for nationwide donations to sustain their staff for the Covid-19 times.
Executive Director of the Council, Enoch Gyetuah says nationwide donations will be the remedy in these difficult times.
GNACOPS believes all sectors of the economy have been hit by the impact of the pandemic, but the case of private school teachers is worse.

Speaking on Angel FM’s Anɔpa Bɔfoɔ with Captain Smart, Mr. Gyetuah indicated the over 22,000 private schools, which constitutes 41 per cent of pre-tertiary education in Ghana, met with the Finance Ministry on 15th April.
He said even though they were asked to apply at the NBSSI but many of their members do not qualify due to their financial statements.

“Many of our members cannot take the money to pay teachers because it is a loan”, he indicated.

“Our biggest request is for you to aid us in these times, so that even if donations could be made to aid us”
“If the good citizens of Ghana can donate even one Ghana cedi each, I think it will help”, he begged Captain Smart to articulate for the establishment of such fund.
Mr. Gyetuah further adds that the GHC 600 million stimulus package would not be sufficient for all, considering the various industries that are applying for it.
“The over 400,000 private school teachers even if their schools are able to access the loan cannot get enough to cater for them”, he added.
The government must assist these private schools.
