Police, Military clash Awoshie residents over road blockage
A joint military and police force have clashed residents of Awoshie Vineyard, a suburb of Accra to prevent them from blocking roads over pedestrian knockdowns.
The residents have blocked the road to prevent vehicles from moving until a faulty traffic light is fixed.
According to reports gathered by Ghanasonline, a pedestrian died yesterday after he was knocked down by a vehicle.
This is the third time residents have witnessed a knockdown in a week.

The act, according to reports has persisted since the traffic light became faulty.

“For about a year now the traffic is not working and for the third time in a week, someone has been killed”, a demonstrator narrated.
“We are blocking the road until they come and fix things. Instead of them to solve the problem, they’ve rather sent the military and police to come and beat us”, another person indicated.
“I was visiting the ladies sometime ago and a woman I saw returning from the market was carrying her stuff to go and sell bit was killed because the traffic was not working”
“From last month till now, 8 people have been killed here”, another woman complained.
Meanwhile, the military and police are spraying hot water on the demonstrators when warning shots couldn’t control the crowd.
