Chief threatens to beat Ken Agyapong, NPP referee at Bukom arena

Chief of Akyem Akroso, Nana Kwabena Ofori, has threatened to beat Assin Central Member of Parliament, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong.

This comes after Ken Agyapong has allegedly accused Nana as a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), and receiving a vehicle (V8) from them.

Ken Agyapong is said to have made the comments during the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) campaign launch at Akyem Akroso in the Eastern region.

Explaining the cause of the brawl, Nana said he asked Running Mate of the NDC, Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang, to upgrade their clinic to a polyclinic, and give them a Teacher Training College if they assume power.

This, he said, is what got the NPP folks furious, saying he is an NDC member.

Reacting to the allegations on Angel FM’s Anɔpa Bɔfoɔ closely monitored by Ghanas Online, Nana said he would not allow “stupid and an idiot” like Ken Agyapong to insult him and go free.

He wondered why the MP in the area accepted his praises when he did but have refused to accept what the NDC had also done for them.

“I’ve touted the NPP MP as the best ever performing MP in our constituency so why should they be angry if I say what the NDC have also done,” he said.

“They should open the Bukom arena for the two of us and get an NPP referee, I’ll beat him and the referee in addition.”

Nana Ofori further indicated the NPP wanted him to suspend his programme to meet Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia during the campaign launch.

But, Nana insisted “In Akan tradition, if you visit someone’s community, you go and greet them instead of you going to the visitor.”

“When they visit other places, do they go and greet the chief or the chief goes to greet them?”, he fumed.

He further cursed Ken Agyapong saying “he and his family will suffer irrespective of his wealth for insulting me.”

Nana however denied the allegations that he is an NDC and even if he was, “is the NDC a Togolese political party,” he asked Kwamena Sam Biney, host of the show.

On the upcoming elections, he advised “we don’t want any vigilantism in the upcoming elections. The peace in the country must prevail and whoever loses must accept defeat.”
