Akufo-Addo, Bawumia file past the body of Rawlings

President Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Vice-President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, together with their respective spouses have filed past the remains of the late former President Jerry John Rawlings.

Among other statesmen who paid their last respect were former presidents John Mahama and John Agyekum Kufuor.

This forms part of the funeral activities lined up to enable the nation bid farewell to the late former first gentleman.

Other high profile personalities also filed past late Mr. Rawlings on his last day of lying in state.

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II sent a delegation led by Asante Mamponghene, Daasebrɛ Nana Osei Bonsu II, who delivered the King’s message to the Rawlingses and Ghanaians.

The late Jerry John Rawlings was laid in state on Monday, January 25th and today, January 26th, at the Accra International Conference Centre for various interest groups and members of the public to have an opportunity to pay their last respect.

Prior to his lying in state, a Requiem Mass was organised for the late Flt. Lieutenant at the Holy Spirit Cathedral at Adabraka, followed by a vigil.
