Covid-19 vaccine: 6 out of 10 adult Ghanaians likely to take dose if it was made available – Research

An iRIS Research Consortium has revealed that six (6) out of ten (10) Ghanaians are likely to take the Covid-19 vaccine if it was made readily available by government.

This however, covers only half of the total population needed to attain 70% herd immunity.

The findings, released on Monday, March 1, 2021 assessed the potential acceptance of the Covid-19 vaccine among Ghanaians.

Before the arrival of the first batch of the Covid-19 dose, a lot of conspiracies arose about the vaccine on its potency and its repercussions on the health of the citizenry.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has acknowledged this challenge exerted towards the vaccine, stating the hesitancy, which it [WHO] refers to as the “delay in acceptance or refusal of vaccines despite availability of vaccination services” has been gaining roots globally.

It is against this backdrop that iRIS organised this survey to ascertain the enormity of Ghanaians vaccine hesitancy amidst the pandemic.

Over 2,300 respondents filled out the questionnaire which had close ended questions.
