Captain Smart schools Appointments Committee on allegations against Oppong Nkrumah

Host of Angel FM’s Morning Show, Blessed Godsbrain Smart has schooled the Appointments Committee of Parliament on some allegations being peddled against Information Minister-designate, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah.

Captain Smart as he is popularly known on the airwaves said claims that Mr. Oppong Nkrumah established OVAL Market Finance during his tenure as Information Minister is not true.

He said the said company was owned by Mr. Oppong Nkrumah whilst working with the Multimedia Group.

He recounted as far back as 25th June 2013 when he Smart signed his first contract with the MGL and introduced to Mr Oppong Nkrumah, he went to that establishment after close of work.

“When I signed my first five years contract with Multimedia on 25th June 2013, Nana Appiah Nti [then Programmes Director at Adom FM] introduced me to Oppong Nkrumah [then host of Super Morning Show on Joy FM]. When he closed from work that day, he passed by his OVAL Market Finance which is somewhere away from Multimedia,” he revealed whilst being monitored by Ghanasonline.com.

He continued that “when I needed a loan to add to my money to buy my first car in Accra at that time, I was told to contact Oppong Nkrumah for that loan so I don’t know where all these are coming from. You can ask anyone at Multimedia, before Kojo became a minister, he had done that long before,” he indicated.

Aside from the OVAL Market Finance, it is also alleged  that the former Information Minister owns a broadcast media called MX24 at East Legon in Accra.

These two according Captain Smart are the reasons the Appointments Committee has rejected the nomination of Mr. Oppong Nkrumah to continue his mantle as Information Minister.

But Captain Smart further revealed that, the said media house is owned by one “Kwadwo Oppong Nkrumah Bawuah who is a different person from Kojo Oppong Nkrumah so he knows nothing about MX24 Gh as being peddled around.”

Until these revelations from Captain Smart, it was on the airwaves that Mr. Oppong Nkrumah had been rejected because he incited former deputy Attorney General, Dominic Ayine, against the Supreme Court.

Mr. Ayine, who is a member of the communication team for the petitioner of the ongoing election petition, John Dramani Mahama, was caught for contempt by the Apex Court.

This, is what the minority members on the Appointments Committee have accused Mr. Oppong Nkrumah for inciting the action due to some comments he made against Mr. Ayine.

Meanwhile, the nomination of two other ministers have also been rejected. They are Ministers-designate for Fisheries and that of Agriculture, Mavis Hawa Koomson and Afriyie Akoto respectively.
