[Photos] FixTheCountry protest: Ghanaians in Spain storm embassy with demonstration
The controversial FixTheCountry protest which is yet to hit grounds in Ghana pending an injunction secured by the Ghana Police Service has manifested itself at the Ghanaian Embassy in the Spanish capital, Madrid.
After four months in its second term, the Akufo-Addo led administration encountered the ferociousness of Ghanaians after increase in fuel prices worsened economic conditions for citizens.
A hashtag, #FixTheCountry surfaced on social media where plans were made to hit the streets on May 9, 2021.
But the Ghana Police Service filed an exparte injunction to ban the demurral, which was later quashed by the Supreme Court after an appeal by the organisers.
But the Ghanaian diaspora who are not happy over the development following an adjournment of the case by an Accra High Court today, Monday, June 14, 2021, stormed the Ghanaian embassy to express their displeasure over how government is running affairs of the state.
According to some of the placards displayed during the protest, they say the amount of money the embassy is charging for visas is too exorbitant, asking for a reduction to be effected.
Below are photos from the demonstration.
