The lions of corruption have started roaring so be vigilant – Captain Smart advises Kissi Agyabeng

The Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo led government’s fight against corruption has become a mirage according to host of the Smart Show on Smart TV, Blessed Godsbrain Smart.

He says the failure of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) administration to fight the menace has left much burden on the shoulders of the Special Prosecutor (SP) nominee, Kissi Agyabeng.

Speaking on the Smart Show Monday, June 21, 2021, Mr. Smart alleged there are some 54 persons in both the NPP and NDC, so much engulfed in corruption whose work is to ensure no administration succeeds in fighting the canker, whom he advised Mr. Agyabeng to be wary of.

His comments come on the back of a video making waves on social media where Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, is seen lambasting some big men in government for usurping peoples property, and turns to accuse them of destroying the party (NPP) when their evil deeds are spilled.

Siding with the comments made by Ken Agyapong, Captain Smart said “if the party [NPP] is being destroyed by some individuals, those of us in it must get up and say it.”

“My NPP is and can become the best political party in Africa so it’s those of us in the party that are supposed to speak the ills in it. You’re a minister and you’re using your powers to take peoples lands. We must end corruption. Gradually, Nana Addo has failed the corruption fight. He can’t go back to it. They’re hanging. Fighting corruption at this time is impossible. The new Special Prosecutor [nominee] is a fine gentleman and a very good lawyer and if he’ll be allowed, he will do a fantastic job”

“But the 28 lions of corruption in NPP and the 28 in NDC have crippled Akufo-Addo and it’ll take a miracle for the president to come back to fight corruption,” he said.

“If you [Kissi Agyabeng] have a place of buying fish, don’t buy fish from there twice anymore. Even if your wife urinates for you, drink it. I know you from afar and know you’re the right man for this job. Whatever you set your eyes on, you do it. If you’ll be allowed, you’ll do it. The lions of corruption in this country have started roaring so you need to be vigilante,” Captain Smart advised.

He reiterated Mr. Agyabeng’s resilience and tenacity to curtail corruption in the country is not in doubt, but is skeptical whether the team of corrupt stalwarts in both the NPP and NDC would allow him carry out his mandate.

“I know you cannot be bribed with any money but those lions of corruption in our party and that of the NDC have teamed up to fight you. I know you have that undying spirit I have in you but you need to be very careful so that they’ll not crumple you,” he indicated.

The reason according to him, Alfred Agbesi Woyome is still walking a free man is that, both the NPP and NDC team up to engage in thievery irrespective of who is in power.

“A court of competent jurisdiction described Woyome’s payment as create, loot and share and that is thievery. They have stolen money. Why haven’t you arrested him?,” he quizzed.

The TV and Radio presenter added that, those who oppose corruption fight in the country “are not ordinary people [in the two political parties] so if you want to stop them, they’ll do everything possible to stop you.”

Commending the competencies of the SP nominee, the outspoken journalist said Mr. Agyabeng’s security must be tightened to ensure he’s fully protected to execute his role.

“If you want us to stop corruption in this country, we must beef up the security of the new SP to ensure he is well secured in all his movement,” he cautioned.
