Use your brains instead of your gains – Captain Smart advises the youth

Unlike the olden days where positions were ascribed rather than achieved, the situation is not the same with the status quo. However, the module seems to be reverting to the former, with some youth’s inability to identify themselves, thereby relegating their brains to make a living.

The development has made many youth rely on what their close relations have achieved rather than making something out of their own.

It is upon this backdrop that the Smart Show host on Smart TV, Blessed Godsbrain Smart, has advised the youth to work out their own success rather than keeping their hopes on the sweat of relations.

On the Monday, June 28, 2021 edition of the show, Captain Smart said parents also have a responsibility for helping their wards identify themselves at the early stages of their lives to focus on their dreams. Failure to do this, he noted, is part of the reasons some youth pride themselves with their parents or any close relation’s achievement instead of carting their own path in life.

“Some parents inability to help their children identify themselves is the reason they’re suffering. The youth are trained to use our gains –what our relatives have — instead of our brains. Use your brain, don’t rely on your gain in order not to be in trouble. Many youth are looking unto their uncles due to the gains instead of their brains,” he asserted.

He added that getting frustrated as a youth at a certain stage is one’s own doing since becoming wealthy or not depends on an individual’s ability to utilise his/her brain.

Mr. Smart proceeded that one needs to acknowledge certain things in order to identify him/herself. These tenets that constitute the self include:

“Me; the ability to identify yourself as a unique person amongst the lot”
“I : Your ability and faith to be able to do something”
“Team: The group you’re in and how they’re able to influence you based on your ‘Me’ and ‘I’ adding that, “sometimes you’re stereotyped because of where you are.”

He finally advised and demonstrated how one can own a three-bedroom house in seven years by saving GHC200.00 at the end of every month.
