Wassa Saaman chief launches fund for youth empowerment and development

The Chief and people of Wassa Saaman in the Amenfi East Municipal of the Western Region have launched a development fund to assist the youth of the community in hand skills training and education.

Wassa Saaman chief, Nana Ampong Kwame Akro, speaking at the launch indicated the programme was aimed at raising funds for youth empowerment and development.

He noted education for a good foundation of the youth is key to every community development, hence, the need to pay critical attention to that.

Nana Akro therefore called on the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), the Member of Parliament and all stakeholders to make education and skill training a priority in their policy formulation and implementation.

Nana Akro exhibited leadership by seeding the fund with GH₵5,000.00.

The MCE for Amenfi East Municipality, Frederick Korankye, pledged his support to the community, promised to provide 20 sewing machines, and contributed a cash of GH₵3,000.00 to the fund.

The MP, Nicholas Amankwaa also donated an undisclosed amount of money amid promises.

Rex Asamoah Twum, a resident, also donated GH₵1,000.00 and used the opportunity to launch his initiative aimed at creating jobs for the youth within the area.

Also present were the chiefs from the various communities who came to support the initiative, contributing GH₵4000.00 to the fund.

The Assembly member for the area, Isaac Yaw Boafo, together with the Unit Committee members, Churches and individuals within the community also supportted the fundraising.

Nana Akro expressed gratitude to those who supported with the leaders assuring that the fund would be put to its purpose.
