C/R: Armed robbers shoot MoMo vendor twice to make away with ₵30k

A mobile money vendor, Ebenezer Amoquandoh, has escaped death after being robbed by armed robbers amid gunshots making him sustain gunshot injuries.

They shot him with a pump action action in his left thigh whilst being robbed at Gomoa Akoti in the Gomoa East district of Central region.

According to the victim, the armed men numbering up to 3 made several attempts to collect an amount of GH30,000 from him which he resisted until he was shot twice in the left thigh.

The shooting made them boot with ransom on the motorbike they used for the robbery.

The victim, Amoquandoh, 31, was rushed to the Winneba Trauma and Specialized Hospital and was treated and discharged.

The Gomoa Ojobi district police have launched investigation into the robbery incident to arrest the perpetrators of the crime.

The victim has been speaking with the media.

“I was going home after the Brazil South Korea game. When I got to the school junction two a flashlight fell on me followed with a gunshot. Everyone around scattered and they demanded my bag.

“I was delaying whilst removing it for them because it had tied around me. So the second shot came and that hit my thigh. One was hitting my head with a sharp object whilst they were collecting the bag.

“It contained about GH₵30,000. Meanwhile someone came to ask me at the shop why I hadn’t close at that time of the night and I told him I was waiting to give something to someone,” he narrated.
