Station Boys Coalition demands apology from Mahama for saying ‘they don’t know anything’

The New Patriotic Party prior to the 2016 elections touted themselves as having the men after an earlier comment about appointees of late President Mills being Team ‘B’.

The NPP, after winning the polls in 2016 continued according themselves with the tag when Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia made his infamous roll call of a “solid economic management team” the NPP can boast of when compared to the NDC’s team B, chastising the previous government for plundering the nation into abject hardship.

Despite the economic downtown that has characterised the Akufo-Addo led administration with facts and figures placing the NDC’s team B as better managers of the economy compared to their “men”, some still tout themselves with the statement including a recent one made by Bryan Acheampong, a Minister of Food and Agriculture at Mpraeso during the Easter holidays.

With less than two years into the next election, the political jabs have started with no sign of it being abated until the elections are over in December 2024.

A flagbearer hopeful for the NDC and former President of the Republic, John Dramani Mahama has at a campaign tour in the Greater Accra region described the NPP men as station boys who know nothing.

“And so the people of Ghana tried them by voting for them, they said they should try them and that was the mistake the people of Ghana made because we have come to realise that after all the ‘we have the men. we have the men’ it was station boys, they don’t know anything,” John Mahama indicated.

The statement, did not go well with a group calling itself the Coalition of Station Boys – Ghana. According to them, the former president’s statement is an undermining of their hard earned reputation and are therefore demanding an apology from him.

A release they issued Saturday, April 15, 2023 said.

Read below their full statement:

We, the Coalition of Station Boys – Ghana (COSBG) are enraged by comments of former
President John Mahama impugning our hard won reputation.

The former president, while addressing some delegates of the NDC on Friday stated among
others that, “They said they should try them, ‘try me and see’. And that was a mistake the
people of Ghana made because we have come to realize that after all, we have the men, we
have the men. They were station boys, they don’t know anything.”

Who says station boys don’t know anything? What an insult?! Well, even though we are alarmed
by Mahama’s loose talk, we resist the temptation of believing that he speaks under the influence
of his “dark FLASK” lately.

Much as Mr. Mahama is entitled to criticize the ruling government in whichever form he
considers okay, it behooves him to be guided about his choice of words, and refrain from
bastardizing hard working guys like “STATION BOYS.”

We hereby give John Mahama a 24-hour ultimatum to render an unqualified apology to us
[COSB], or risk being punished severely at the polls on December 7, 2024. A word to the wise,
they say is enough!
