‘Curse be the womb that begat me if I keep quiet’ – Captain Smart

Forthright TV and radio presenter, Blessed Godsbrain Smart has averred “cursed be the womb that begat me if I keep quiet over the woes of others because I’m okay.”

He says the fact that he is okay does not mean the lapses in affairs of the state should be left unattended to.

On the Monday, June 14, 2021 edition of the Smart Show on Smart TV, Mr. Smart, who is also host of Onua Maakye noted his daily rants is not about him but for the teeming unemployment to be reduced drastically for the suffering masses to be okay.

“This morning when I was speaking on Onua someone wrote a comment and said – ‘after all you’re paid at the end of the month so what’s your problem?– If I’m paid at the end of the month and others are hungry and I keep quiet, curse be the womb that begat me because it is not about me having a job and being content but at least, for the majority to be contented,” he expressed.

He additionally noted the era of diplomacy has elapsed, asking the youth to come out and express their grievances on social media on a daily basis until the leadership heed to their plight.

“We’ve been so diplomatic over the years. That honeymoon is over. We’ve always been told to keep quiet, have patience but now we are tired” because none of these approaches worked.

“If you’re a youth, come out. Pick your phone and write on social media,” he urged.

With over $57billion gold revenue between 2011 and 2020, Mr. Smart stated Ghanaian leaders cannot boast of anything substantial from such booty, adding that the state needs a “factory reset” to put things to work.

“Ghana’s gold revenue from 2011 to 2020 is over $57 billion. Ghana needs a factory reset because everything has collapsed. This has nothing to do with my NPP or the NDC or who’s in power but it got to do with brains”

“What did the NDC do with the gold money [Over $30 billion] from 2011 to 2016? What has the NPP done with the revenue [over $25 billion] gained from 2017 to 2020? And the roads minister—my uncle, Amoako Atta — is asking us to double up. When you live in a country where a 14 year old kills a fellow for money rituals, then it tells you the sort of people leading the country,” he intimated.

He said the youth are not going to give room for the leadership to take them for granted anymore.

“When people refuse to pay their tax, look at how they’re molested yet our mothers sit in garbage in the markets and all the assemblies know is to chase them with taxes. Go to Dome market and see where our mothers are sitting. The youth have resorted to drugs and an old man will sit somewhere and say the youth are useless. The youth have all turned to scrap dealers because everyday, you’ll see them pulling trucks looking for scrap. There’s no holiday again,” he fumed.
