Bodies of two drowned policemen found

Dead bodies of the two policemen who were reported missing at Amansie in the Ashanti region have been found.

The incident as reported by Ghanasonline.com yesterday could not establish whether the two were dead or not since they could not be found.

After some rituals were performed by traditional authorities and the police leadership who embarked on a search for the two men, their bodies were found floating on the Oda river where they got missing.

The two, whose names were given as Corporal Stephen Kyeremeh and Corporal Akwasi Boateng were part of a team who embarked on a an illegal mining operation.

According to Joseph Chuku, an Ashanti regional correspondent for Angel FM, the two policemen were on a boat on the Odaw river to track activities of illegal miners.

After the return of their colleagues, the two have still not been seen which has raised concerns in the area.

It was rumoured that the boat on which the two officers rode capsised and drowned them into the river.

Investigations are currently ongoing to ascertain the actual cause of the their demise.
