BUSTED: Two EC officials arrested for registering people in their homes

Two Electoral Commission officials have been caught registering persons suspected to be members of the ruling New Patriotic Party with a swindled biometric kit in their homes.

The exercise, which was ongoing at the Salaga North constituency in the Savannah region was intercepted by an Operation “PROTECT YOUR POLLING STATIONS”, a pro National Democratic Congress (NDC) vigilante group in the Savannah region when the officials were registering people.

In an interview with Northern regional secretary of the NDC, Mohammed Abdul-Kudus, he indicated that the “biometric device has been reported and told to political parties that it is dysfunctional and is being taken to the regional capital in Damongo to be fixed subsequently for registration to continue”

The device, however, ended up in Tamale South where people were being registered with it in their homes.

Mr. Abdul-Kudus added that they “gave the benefit of the doubt and asked that since the machine was originally assigned to the Savannah region, some of our party officials to escort it to to where it was stationed”
