Sammy Gyamfi files criminal complaint against Ken Agyapong

National Communication Officer for the NDC, Samuel Gyamfi has filed an official complaint at the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) against the Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong for allegedly threatening his life.

On an Accra based Asempa FM’s ‘Ekosii sen’ on 4th of August, 2020, the Legislator is alleged to have threatened Mr Gyamfi for his thugs to physically assault him.

Part of the complaints filed by Mr Gyamfi’s lawyers state “while speaking in the Twi language on the said programme, Mr. Kennedy Agyapong stated among other things that if our client does proceed with his advocacy on national issues in a particular manner, he shall in a matter of three seconds organise his thugs to beat and/or finish our client mercilessly.”

Lawyers for Sammy Gyamfi claimed they had found “credible” evidence showing that Kennedy Agyapong had “contracted some thugs to carry out” his threats on their client’s life.

Sammy Gyamfi’s lawyers said they thus “feel compelled to formally write and lodge a complaint against Mr. Kennedy Agyapong” to protect their client’s life.

Ken Agyapong’s threats follow a claim by Sammy Gyamfi indicating the violence that has marred the Electoral Commission’s Voters’ registration exercise.

This claim angered Ken Agyapong who refuted the claims and insisted his constituency has been violence free since the exercise begun.
