Covid-19: Authorities allay fears of parents ahead of schools reopening

Parents have been assured of their wards safety ahead of resuming academic activities amidst the Coronavirus pandemic.

Senior House Master of Sefwi Bekwai Senior High School, Francis Gyapong has indicated many parents were skeptical about the safety of their children when president Akufo-Addo announced schools would be reopened between January 9 and 15.

But after disinfecting the Sefwi Bekwai SHS, Mr. Gyapong has allayed the fears of parents who expressed pessimism towards the arrangement.

He noted government has assured them of Personal Protective Equipments ahead of the reopening and the authorities would strictly ensure adherence to the protocols when the students return.

The exercise forms part of the nationwide disinfection programme ahead of schools resumption.

In the Western North region, the Sefwi Bekwai SHS, Otoo Educational Complex (OTEC) at Bibiani Degede, Bibiani Senior High Technical School were amongst institutions that were disinfected.

Aside from the classrooms, dormitories, kitchens and other facilities, open spaces were equally disinfected.

Also, “we want to thank government and Zoomlion for this disinfection since the virus broke out. We also appreciate the good works from Zoomlion because even as government asks them to disinfect, they may choose to do it anyhow but they always do a good job,” he extoled.

At the OTEC, the Administrator, Francis Ahotoyon said “initially private schools were being relegated for such exercises but this time around, government has included us and we are very grateful.”
