‘We are fed up with the diplomacy’ – Captain Smart tells Ghanaian leaders

Smart speaking to the press during the demonstration at EOCO

Captain Smart, the Smart Show host on Smart TV has said Ghanaians, especially the youth are no more going to adopt the diplomatic approach to get their grievances resolved in the country.

The honour and respect accorded leadership in getting grievances addressed over the years has yielded no results, for which reason the TV and radio presenter has said “we are fed up with the diplomacy.”

Commenting on some videos of poor roads and bridges on social media that have made motors immovable, he said the $48 billion spent on roads over the past 20 years should have reduced the poor road network in the country to the barest minimum. However, thousands of kilometres of the entire 73,000 km of roads in the country have never tasted asphalt.

He explained that the abuse of the respect and honour given them to resolve the recurring problem facing the ordinary Ghanaian has reached its limit and it was time the youth started demanding what they’re due with some sort of fierceness.

“When we were diplomatic, you didn’t construct the roads, you didn’t build the schools, hospitals, etc so we are fed up with the diplomacy. Respect and honour is paramount in our society and we were always told to respect and honour our leaders but we’ve gone beyond respect and the honour that is left is being abused so we’ll take that one too,” he fumed.

Ghanaian leaders have borrowed to undertake almost every venture according to Captain Smart but cannot render any account for its achievement.

“We virtually borrow to do everything in this country but where is the money we borrow? We’ll not throw sandals or slap our leaders – like it happened in US and France respectively. But if you think you can’t contain our comments, renounce your citizenship and go to wherever you want to go,” he said.
