‘Apologise to the state for your dishonourable utterances’ – Captain Smart chides Ken Agyapong

Captain Smart has described as “dishonourable”, comments made by Assin Central Member of Parliament, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, on Luv FM’s Erastus Asare Donkor.

The vociferous journalist has asked the loudmouthed politician to render an unqualified apology to the state for threatening to attack a citizen on live television.

On Friday, July 9, 2021, Mr Agyapong was reported to have verbally abused and threatened to attack Mr. Asare Donkor, “for the journalistic work that the latter undertook during the recent shootings and killing incident at Ejura” on Net 2 TV, a television station owned by the MP.

Outraged Ken Agyapong before calling for the attack of the poor journalist said “if someone’s brother has killed him, you say it’s a mob and because of that two other lives were lost.”

As Chairman of Parliament’s Select Committee on Defence and Interior, Captain Smart noted he is expected to know better to say the late Kaaka was murdered by his brother whilst no competent court of jurisdiction has ruled so. Apology to Ghanaians is the honourable thing for the MP to do.

“Which court ruled that Kaaka was killed by his brother for you to say that on air? And after Kaaka has been killed with two others dying, you sit on air and call for him to be beaten”

“What came out of your mouth is dishonourable. Come out and apologise to Ghanaians,” he fumed on his YouTube live streamed Smart Show on Monday, July 18, 2021.

Meanwhile, The Multimedia Group has filed a formal complaint against the MP for threatening the life of the journalist.

In the letter, dated July 13, 2021, addressed to the Deputy Regional Commander, Ashanti Region, the media group demanded security protection for Erastus Asare Donkor.

It also called for a thorough investigation into the threats issued by the legislator.
