You’re not smart – Smart to Ken Agyapong on his presidential ambition

Captain Smart says it is not smart for Ken Agyapong to ascend the presidency — which is his ambition — in the manner with which he is attacking the media.

He says the Assin Central Member of Parliament could have devised a better strategy to use the media sell his presidential ambition to Ghanaians than accusing some journalists for unnerving  him.

The MP, Kennedy Agyapong on a Net2 TV programme said 60% of Ghanaian youth support him and would win should he contest anyone in the NPP and subsequently flaw John Mahama of the NDC in the presidential polls if he’s chosen by the NDC in 2024.

Also, Ken Agyapong added should he not contest the flagbearer of the NPP, any candidate he supports will emerge victorious and go ahead to win the general election.

To thwart this influence, the Parliament’s Select Committee on Defence and Interior Chair said some journalists have been tasked to intimidate him, specifically, Media General’s Captain Smart and Despite Media’s Abeiku Santana.

In his response to the MP, Captain Smart laughed off the allegations saying he never imagined “ a whole Kennedy Agyapong could be intimidated”, adding that “you’re not smart because you would have known how to deal with the media since we know you want to be president.”

He said should Ken Agyapong become president tomorrow, he should know there are journalists who can criticise him unlike others who are afraid of him, one of the reasons he’s giving him signals now.

The entire brouhaha emanated from the legislator’s call for the assault of a journalist –Erastus Asare Donkor – for his testimony and coverage of the Ejura killings before the Commission of Inquiry, which Captain Smart condemned and asked him to apologise for.

He also asked the MP to season his utterances and seek sense to guide the sensitive portfolio he occupies in Parliament.

It is on this note that the MP replied, saying, all the criticisms are mere conduit of intimidation set up to neutralise his immense influence in the 2024 general election.

Mr. Agyapong had earlier accused Captain Smart of owing him GHS10,000.00 for purchasing Air Conditioners from his company without paying. But the TV and radio presenter has asked him to go to court if he owes him.

He spoke on the Smart Show on Smart TV, streamed live on YouTube.
