Captain Smart explains why he has resigned from ABN

Blessed Godsbrain Smart, host of the Smart Show on Smart TV has explained why he resigned from the Angel Broadcasting Network (ABN).

During the introductory section of the Smart Show, he said he as an individual cannot be a blockade to the many people whose daily survival depend on ABN.

He said the “political suspension” which was handed him according to his former boss, Kwaku Oteng, was instigated with threats from the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) which has the potency to collapse his business, rendering many people jobless, adding up to the already teeming unemployment in the country.

Mr. Smart, who launched Smart TV few days after his suspension said he asked his employers to extend his one month suspension but currently sees no reason to return to ABN.

He explained further that, if he returns as host of the Angel Morning show, the very issues he put to the fore that got him suspended are the same ones he’ll be discussing, hence, the need to bow out for the intimidation from state authorities on his former boss to abate.

He however emphasised that, he has no issues with Mr. Oteng and will never have any issues with him, but rather needs his own space to propagate his message.

“I went on a political suspension and I wrote on my Facebook for you to extend my suspension but today, Doc. [Doctor], please I beg you, sack me because I won’t come again”

“Me I don’t have any issue with you and I’ll never have any issue with you but per the conversation you had with me on phone, you told me it’s [my suspension] is politically motivated”

“So when I come now, what am I coming to do? To sell banku or kokonte? When I come back I’ll say the same things. Per what you said, I don’t want the GRA to be hunting you with taxes for your business to collapse for the many youth to lose their jobs”

“I thank you for opening a business and of all the many people, you chose me to host your morning show. It’s okay and I can’t come again. I won’t allow your business to collapse because of me just one person. I came to join and I’m leaving. I joined ABN on 1st June and today is 28th, Tuesday is 1st and I’m officially announcing to you that I’m out,” he announced Friday, May 28, 2021.
