Ejura killings: ‘The culture of silence must cease’ – Captain Smart

The murder of Ibrahim Mohammed a.k.a Kaaka, and the subsequent shooting of 11 others during a protest at Ejura in the Ashanti Region, according to Captain Smart, is an affirmation of the culture of silence that has bedevilled the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government.
He notes the current development at Ejura also depict how intolerant the NPP government has become.
Speaking on the Smart Show Tuesday, June 29, 2021, Captain Smart averred people are agitated because instead of building the country, government is interested in building political parties.
“This culture of silence will go back to wherever it is coming from. When you build your country, your party becomes attractive to people. So why are we refusing to build the country”
“The NPP is becoming highly intolerant. No condition is permanent and the earlier we sit to think about it the better,” he said.
Captain Smart further alleged that security officials who carry out such barbaric acts on civilians are party thugs who are put in uniform without any proper training.
“No police or military without party colours would shoot into a crowd. When each party comes to power, they’re given slots to submit people for the security services so those are the ones they send out during such protests. They are party boys in uniform without any proper training” he alleged.
After the death of social media activist, Kaaka, the youth went on rampage to demand justice and called for his murderers to be brought to book. Whilst protesting on the streets of Ejura Tuesday, the military shot into the crowd and killed two persons, leaving nine others injured.
Two persons have since been discharged with two others transferred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi.
